Many people spend a lifetime chasing after dreams only to find emptiness in the accomplishment. There is something missing an unfulfilled longing. Dream chasing is only relevant when it is rooted in God’s calling on your life. When God sparks a dream in your life, you won’t be able to let it go because God chose you for it.
1 Thessalonians 1:4 “For we know brothers and sisters loved by God that he choose you.”
I’m reminded of King David. He was out in the field tending the sheep minding his own business, and before he knew it, he was chosen to be the next King of Israel David. Immediately after, he was empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the call on his life. Prior to this, David was oblivious to God’s dream for his life. We, too, are one day awakened to a greater purpose for our lives when God chooses us, and He will always empower and equip the one He calls.
God will supernaturally gift you with what you need for your dream.
(Proverbs 18:16) A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great …. A man or woman’s gift makes room for him, and doors will open to use your gift.
It’s important to know that there is a time of preparation and testing first before you are released to fulfill your dream. God allows trials to test your dream and prepare you to fulfill it.
(James 1:3) Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
Again we look at the life of David. He was tested during that time when King Saul wanted to kill him. He experienced that betrayal from someone he loved dearly. He was forced to be on the run. During this time, David learned to trust in God and receive strength. When times are difficult and confusing, often in our dream chasing, we will have times of trouble. However, as we turn to God, our dependency on Him will grow. This is the time that you are the most vulnerable to give up on your dream. It’s important that your turn to the Lord and keep your focus and depend on him faithfully. Talk to God about it every day, which keeps hope alive.
If you are not focused and dependent on God, the enemy, the devil, is waiting to steal, to kill, and destroy the plans God has for you (John 10:10). The thief came to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that they will have life and have it to the full
But when you pursue God, and you pursue your dream, you will live life to the full and you will fulfill your dream!!! As you faithfully pursue God, talk to God about your dream every day, ask for his wisdom and steps in pursuing it, one day at a time.
It’s important that you remember two things that you would live a life filled with expectant faith that the dream will happen!!! And that you refuse to let go of your dream regardless of circumstances in your life
A dream is something you are passionate about, and there is a driving force to make a difference. Once God has given you a dream, and once it has captured your heart, it just won’t go away!!! Sometimes a dream is only a picture, a vision that you don’t fully understand yet. God may give it to you in pieces asking you to believe, and as you take small steps in faith, He will fill in the gaps.
It’s important we don’t fall into a passive attitude that says, “we will just wait and see what happens “we must resist having a wait and see kind of attitude. Instead, we need to be focused on God and determined to expect from him Just like David did (Psalm 27:13). He said, “I would have been despaired if I had not seen the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
Waiting on God is very different from a “wait and see” kind of attitude. Waiting on God is not a passive way where you do nothing. It’s instead a time in your life when you are learning not to take matters into your own hands, trying to do only what God can do. You are waiting physically, but you are actively seeking His face, His direction, and putting your trust in Him as you step out to follow His lead, empowered by Him, and in His timing, the doors will be opened.
When we are born again and have surrendered our life to God, He will do amazing things in you, and through you. It’s not always easy getting through that time of testing and being prepared, but the reward on the other side is so worth it—the fulfillment of your God-given dreams.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand and that we should walk in them
