Isaiah 6:8 “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am. Send me!”
That scripture inspires me because that is my prayer: “Here I am, send me!”
Through all of history God has been writing a story of redemption and victory, and from the moment of salvation you and I are weaved into that story, set apart to be his Ambassadors. Each of us are joining our life story to God’s plan to redeem the world. I guarantee you if you say to God “Here I am, send me” He will set up one divine appointment after another.
How do I know this? Because it is the storyline of my life!!
I jokingly refer to the variety of ministries I lead — I call one my “Shopping Ministry.” This one I’m particularly fond of because I just love finding that unique piece of jewelry or article of clothing that becomes an expression of my own style. It’s always an adventure. I particularly love consignment shops because what others have discarded I will see the unique beauty in it and purchase it at far below its original price. But that adventure is far more reaching than just articles of clothing: it’s the people I come in contact with.
Because I pray “Here I am, send me” as I go, God sets up divine appointments for me to be his witness to share stories of all God is doing in my life, and I invite people to share their story, and many times God opens the door for me to invite them to church or for me to pray with them.
When you pray “Here I am, send me” your life will become an adventure which can unfold anywhere you go.
I remember a divine appointment that occurred when I was at an event in the city. It was a Love Your Life event with Lynette Lewis. I met a women there named Carol. Lynette always encourages the women in our congregation to invite people to church or to meet for coffee to extend that hand to them, so that is what I did — I invited Carol to go for coffee with me.
I was coming into the city regularly at that time and was in the planning stage of joining with Carine, one of the members of our church in the city, to establish a new connect group that I would co-lead with her.
So one afternoon I meet Carol at a local Starbucks, and over coffee I invited her to attend our connect group. As I showed her the lesson we would be going over, she shared with me that although she would like to attend, when she reads the Bible she finds it very difficult to understand.
This led to my asking her, “Are you Born Again?” Which she replied “No.”
I let her know that was the reason she couldn’t understand it. She needed to be born again and then her spiritual eyes would be open to understand God’s word.
I then asked her, “Do you want to be born again?” and she said “Yes” so I took her hand right there in Starbucks and led her to the Lord, and as she repented and declared and recognized Jesus as the Lord and Savior of her life I watched as tears of joy filled her eyes.
That was a divine appointment!! You see, her sister had been praying and planting the seeds in Carol’s life. For twenty years Carol had witnessed the transformation in her sister’s life. Her sister lives in California, and when Carol would go to visit her she would bring her to many church services and had been faithfully praying for her.
And because I had been praying “Here I am, send me”, God did just that!! And she started to attend our connect group and in turn started to attend our Every Nation Church in New York.
The campaign we are launching out here in Jersey is “Each one Reach one”.
We are Christ’s Ambassadors — all you have to do is step out in it and God will meet you there and set up divine appointment wherever you go.
2 Corinthians 5:20 “We are therefore Christ’s Ambassadors, as though God is making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God.”
