John 3:16 For God so loved the world he gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
1 John 3:1 See what great love God has for us that we should be called children of God
Not only does God love us, but He has adopted us into His family, calling us sons and daughters.
What better time than Christmas to reflect on God’s unconditional love and grace and all that the Father and the son gave for us?
2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though He was rich yet for our sake He became poor so that through His poverty we might become rich.
The riches of Jesus are the glory He had seen even before the world was made. Jesus became poor for you and me the day He was born. He gave up being face-to-face with His father and came down and took on the form of a man. He experienced pain and rejection and every temptation known to man
We often reflect on how much Jesus gave at the cross but let us always remember how much He gave the day he was born. That is the reason for the season and why we give.
A lot of times, we hear people say Christmas has become way too materialistic, but the very heart of all this giving is the gift God the Father gave to us the day Jesus was born.
One of my most cherished memories as a child Is the year I asked for a bike for Christmas. My father woke me up at 3 in the morning because he couldn’t wait to give me my present. My dad was always the first one up on Christmas morning because he was so filled with the joy of giving to his children.
And that is the heart of our heavenly Father.
