One of my favorite sayings from whom we affectionately refer to as Mama Joyce is, “I’m too blessed to be stressed.” This is her attitude, and as I listen to these words of wisdom, I too realize no matter what may come my way, whether I’m on the mountaintop or in the valley, I’m too blessed to be stressed.
Jim and I have been in a season where stress seems to be around every corner. When life gets overwhelming, we can sometimes forget the blessings in our life. But when I hear Mama Joyce say, “Too blessed to be stressed,” it’s a reminder of just how true that is. I am reminded of the importance of daily remembering to thank God for the many blessings He has brought and continues to bring into my life.
The beauty of it is, I’m realizing that in this season when life can be overwhelming, I’ve become more aware of the blessings and all I have to be thankful for. It reminds me of the scripture in Romans 8:28: “All things work together for the good to them who love God and are called according to His purposes.”
Now, it doesn’t mean the circumstances are good, but it does mean when life throws you some curveballs you weren’t expecting, there is one place you can always go, and that is to our God who hears every prayer, our God who will never leave us or forsake us, our God who loves us and will protect us and comfort us and give us strength, our God who is our healer, our God who always has the last word!!
I so love this scripture, 2 Corinthians 1:4, “who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we receive.”
It is so beautiful the way our God works. The more I look to Him for comfort, the more I find I can bring that to others who are going through trying times. As I minister to others, my focus is on them and not what I’m going through. God is so good!!
Like I said, “I am too blessed to be stressed.” I am blessed with a husband whom I love dearly, and I so treasure each and every day we have together. I am blessed with an amazing family. I was raised in a home filled with love, and that love and support continue to surround us every day. I am blessed with a beautiful church family that also fills our lives with so much love and support and powerful prayer as we believe together that all things are possible with our God!!
I am blessed with wonderful neighbors and friends who I refer to as “my pool ministry,” who are always asking, “Is there anything I can do for you?” We are there for each other.
But most of all, I am blessed because Jesus is my Lord and my Savior, and I rejoice in the joy of my salvation daily. Knowing Jim and I and those I love will spend eternity with Him when we depart this world. And while I am here, He will constantly be setting up those divine appointments of sharing His love and the gospel with the ones He brings into my life so that they too will live a life fully devoted to Jesus and know the pure joy that comes from counting your blessings each and every day.
