When King David wrote Psalm 139, he recognized that the days of his life were written in God’s book before he was even born. He acknowledged that God knows everything, is everywhere and is the Creator and Author of all life. Each one of us was born uniquely equipped.
Last week I received a beautiful gift of a handmade place from Psalm 139:14, which says, “I praise you because I am are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful.” What does that mean? David is praising God because he is overwhelmed by the majesty of God who created him in such an intricate and unique way. David is in complete awe of our amazing God. The word “wonderfully” in Hebrew is “pala” which means to be separate and unique. Basically, it means that God made you to be special. When David says you are fearfully made, what he means is when God made you, He made you full of respect, reverence, honor, and awe of God. Because God is worthy of all respect and honor, and He made us in His image. It is because God is worthy of respect that we are respectfully made. It is because God is worthy of reverence that we are made in reverence It is because God is worthy of honor that we are made in honor. It is because we stand in awe of God that we are an awe-inspiring creation. When He says how great is your work, He is saying I am only great because God makes me great, and I am only Wonderful because God is wonderful.
Psalm 139:13 says, “For you created my innermost being you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” David is praising God because of how amazing God made him to be. Every single one of us is a masterpiece. No one else has your fingerprint or DNA You are unique. You are an original design. Diamonds are expensive because they are rare. You are the only one who exists. That makes you priceless. You are a masterpiece, a priceless work of art. Your personality your gift mix the way you look the contour of your body the color of your skin. You are fearfully and wonderfully made because God is wonderful! That is why we are wonderful!
